An. experienced principal transport planner to provide highway and transport input. to planning applications. Objectives of the post:. To apply expertise consistent. with the role within a specialist team within the Planning service and. contribute to the delivery of team outcomes by applying detailed. technical/professional knowledge and skills and through a personal. caseload of projects and/or applications. To provide advice and support to. colleagues and other users of the service, within and beyond the Council. Expected to play an active part. in the achievement of performance and budgetary aspirations, consistent. with the continuous improvement of the service for its users. Develop, implement and. continuously review sustainable transportation policies, strategies, plans. and projects and provide high quality technical assessment and. recommendations to support effective advocacy of the Councils transport. strategy to local, regional and national bodies. Through liaison with highway and. Traffic professionals across the Council, provide comprehensive advice on. the transportation implications of planning applications and highways. projects (including consideration of S278/S106/CIL) and undertake and. evaluate transportation impacts and transport assessments to help achieve. the Councils corporate planning objectives. Carry out tendering and. commissioning of work for transportation projects and strategies and. monitor contract arrangements in conjunction with Corporate Procurement as. required. Develop and monitor external. funding submissions and liaise with engineers and other technical officers. on the development of schemes and programmes. Develop and promote travel awareness. programmes and cycling events and co-ordinate sub-regional workplace. travel planning workload. Specific to the role:. The. post holder would be expected to have several of assessing. the highway transport impacts of development proposals, of evaluating transport. assessments, negotiating highway agreements and to have an understanding of. traffic models.
