Overview:. Joining a leading UK Manufacturer with more than 60 years of trading history, you will bring your experience of multi drop transport and logistics management to this challenging role. Purpose:. Reporting directly to the Supply and Logistics Manager, this role will encompass giving direction and management of transport function providing a cost effective transport operation and provide a service to all customers both internally and externally. It will also be responsible for the Load planning, O License compliance, customers and implementing and managing continuous improvement techniques and processes. Daily Responsibilities:. * Be a part of the Logistics Management Team. * The day to day managing of the fleet, distribution. * Developing the forecasts for the department, meeting the demands of the customers. * Provide a point of contact for key internal customers. * Build peer support and strong internal company relationships with other key management personnel. * Provide Management Information as requested. * Understand, manage, and help to resolve customer service issues regarding delivery, distribution and despatch to ensure all aspects are on time and in full. * Identify gaps in skills and knowledge of self and any direct reports and work to improve capabilities through coaching, development and training. * Live and demonstrate the company values. DISTRIBUTION AND DESPATCH. * Be responsible for the distribution of finished products to the customers using the most cost effective combination of our own fleet and external providers. * Ensure the Company complies with all VOSA legal and best practice fleet management. * Work with the Supply and Logistics Manager to negotiate the best fleet contracts and services. * Oversee the Shunters and Fleet teams. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT. * Ensure a disciplined approach to data and root cause analysis. * Lead projects that eliminate waste through all areas of manufacturing. * Analyse processes using established continuous improvement techniques to optimise performance. * Implement suitable continuous improvement processes to hit KPI's. Experience, Skills and Qualifications required:. Experience. * An experienced Logistics Manager. * CPC National is essential. * Experience in Route planning systems. * Multi drop experience required. * Experience of using an ERP system e.g. NAV, would be an advantage. * People management experience. Skills and competencies. * Builds trust, respect and rapport quickly and at all levels. * Strong, professional communication skills. * Capable of multitasking and organising time effectively. The role will involve working across multiple projects at any one time. * Advisory approach towards the customer, considering all possible issues and creating the right solution. * Self-driven, able to influence internal stakeholders, and highly responsive. * I.T. literate with a high level of competence in Excel. * Highly numerate with good analytical and problem solving skills. * Teamwork and cooperation. * Commercially astute with the ability to demonstrate business understanding. * Cost control and budget management skills. Qualifications. * The Transport Manager must demonstrate a good standard of education at GCSE level with preference given to A level and Higher Education standard applicants and those with relevant qualifications. * Membership to the relevant professional body.
