Support Worker - Buddy/Mentor required to support our young client, based in the Brighton area. Pay rate: £8.50 - £11.50 per hour, 8 hrs per week, split shift days. (2days/4 hrs). Interserve Healthcare is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, fun loving, Support Worker - Buddy/Mentor, to provide a high standard of support to our client, a young teenage girl who sustained a brain injury as a young child. Our client lives at home with her parents and requires a dedicated and committed Support Worker to work term time and during the school holidays to provide encouragement in developing her social skills and independence through community opportunities and home recreational activities, promoting her executive skills and interaction with others. As a Support Worker your duties will include: * Liaising and interacting with our client and her parents to ensure full understanding of her needs and to build supportive relationships. * Supporting the family with a range of age and gender appropriate activities to implement strategies provided by the clinical psychologist. * Pomoting positive role modelling of communication and behaviour in social situations. * Maintaining client safety * Developing skills in money management and awareness of social media and community safety. * Supporting homework and educational tasks if required. * Providing/arranging transport as appropriate including public transport. * Producing and maintaining a written diary/record of each session in the home file. Skills required: * Desire to facilitate the independence of a young person with additional needs. * Awareness of the needs of an individual with a disability or additional needs * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to interact and develop a rapport and have fun. * Awareness and understanding of gender and age-specific activities. * Able to travel to the clients home and to be flexible for the hours required. You should be a non smoker. Driving licence ideal, however this is not essential.
