Mott MacDonald has secured a six-year framework with Scottish Water to provide a full range of consultancy services. The work will run as a joint venture with MWH, and our JV is one of only two appointed to deliver technical consultancy support estimated at £10 -15m per year. As a result we have a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced electrical engineer to join our core design team in either Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen. This position can be offered on a full-time or a part-time basis. You will develop and deliver the electrical and ICA optioneering and design of water and wastewater schemes as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team. Typical duties will include preparation of drawings for plant general arrangements, power single line diagrams, cable block diagrams, instrumentation loop diagrams, P&IDs, control system architecture drawings, and cable, instrument and I/O schedules. You will also produce documentation, including user requirement specifications/control philosophies, tender documentation (including particular electrical and ICA specifications), attend factory and site acceptance tests and provide technical advice and guidance. Candidate specification: * Chartered electrical engineer (or working towards Chartership) * Strong technical knowledge of your field, able to advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts electrical engineering issues * Broad experience in LV and HV distribution systems, motor control centres/control panels, electrical installation * Practical experience in control systems using PLC systems, PLC proprietary networks and profibus * Broad knowledge of SCADA and telemetry systems * Practical knowledge of functional safety and BSEN 61508 * Able to demonstrate use of Amtech or similar software package for carrying out detailed cable calculations * Demonstrate continuing maintenance of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions
