The Ferry Project is Luminus Group’s Fenland-based homelessness charity which provides accommodation and support services to single homeless vulnerable adults 24 hours, 365 days a year. As well as providing accommodation the Ferry Project owns Octavia View a community support hub. Octavia’s Café is set in the beautiful grade two Georgian setting of Octavia View dating back to 1722. During the first year of the post you will receive training in being a fundraiser provided by an external accredited trainer. In the second year telephone support will continue. As Trainee Fundraising Officer you will be responsible for identifying a wide portfolio of funding and sponsorship streams, consulting with staff and stakeholders internally and externally. You will write and submit funding applications to government departments, trusts, foundations and other funding bodies. A minimum of 2 A Level qualifications (or Level 3 equivalent) including English and Mathematics are essential, achieved at grades A*- C. It is therefore important that you have the ability to plan and research as you will play an instrumental part in generating income to The Ferry Project and compiling project based budgets along with effective resource allocating. You will manage a portfolio of funders, through developing excellent client and customer relationships, whilst undertaking project monitoring and evaluation, and issuing funding reports and appeals in the form of periodic mailshots. It is therefore important that you have strong ICT skills, including Microsoft Office packages and online social media and web based systems. This exciting new opportunity will also enable you to work alongside the Communications team and Events Coordinator in coordinating marketing and communications activity, raising the charity’s profile locally and regionally, and promoting projects or services in a positive manner.
