Principal Project Manager - General Claims. We are currently recruiting for a Principal Project Manager to effectively lead and manage a team to implement strategy and comply with statutory obligations. Our client's activities are centred on mining subsidence and public safety with immediate and direct intervention to ensure a robust and practical engineering solution is delivered. Your aim is to manage in a safe, economic, efficient and effective manner the field based Project Managers that manage the 'general claims' programme of hazards, enquiries and subsidence projects. You will promote and maintain a positive team culture within the department and in its dealings throughout the organisation. You will also promote and ensure efficient, effective and consistent contract management standards are adopted and applied within your team. Key Responsibilities. * To ensure that the programme of projects is adequately progressed and resourced, that determination of liability is correctly achieved and that stakeholders are effectively managed. * The lead the standardisation of contract management processes within the team and mentor the team to ensure that best value is consistently obtained from contractors. * To demonstrate that all projects and fieldworks are economically, efficiently and effectively managed and all statutory obligations are discharged. * To devise and communicate project plans and priorities. * To monitor project income and expenditure, and to review provisions, accruals and future forecasts against budget. To ensure that services are correctly procured. * To act as a public interface, representing the organisation and dealing with live enquiries from members of the public, and other relevant parties. * Giving field staff essential support, advice, coordination and back up. To make contact with other resources or emergency services as and when required. * To plan and be part of a 24 hour rota response to calls to the emergency number, providing to field staff essential support, advice, coordination and back up. Essential. * Substantial technical management experience with a mining, surveying or civil engineering background. * Experience of managing teams locally and remotely. * Ability to undertake travelling to hazards and subsidence cases. * Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental issues. * Experience of Contractor Management. * Good negotiation skills. * Good report writing skills. * Excellent written and communication skills. * Ability to deal with a high volume detailed workload and prioritisation. * Good interpersonal and managerial skills.
