No experience needed. MacIntyre is a leading national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. We have vacancies supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism for support workers in our Lifelong Learning and Outreach services in Bedfordshire. About the role Bedfordshire Lifelong Learning supports around 60 adults in a number of daily activities which facilitate a wide range of life skills such as cooking, shopping, handling money etc. The activities change daily as well as during the support so a flexible attitude is essential. The support may be on a 1-1 basis or as a group and can be based anywhere within Bedfordshire including Biggleswade and Dunstable, with Ampthill being the main hub. MacIntyre is committed to providing the relevant training, as supporting people with a range of different needs means an understanding of mental health, medical needs and physical needs. You'll be taking your turn on a shift rota which includes days, evenings, weekends and public holidays. There may be occasional sleep-ins. What we need from you We welcome people with experience in the care sector, especially if you have experience working with people who have learning disabilities and complex needs. However experience is not always necessary, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. People join us from many different backgrounds, it's more important to us that you have a positive approach and are willing to learn. It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK. Depending on who you are supporting, you will be asked to drive the service mini-bus or motability vehicles, and for some roles you will need your own transport.
