Purchasing Manager Salary dependent on experience Leicester based Full time, 37.5 hours per week STERIS Corporation is a leading provider of Sterilisation Distillation and infection control equipment to Healthcare, scientific, and industrial customers throughout the world. We are seeking to recruit a Purchasing Manager. This role will have primary responsibility for the successful management of raw material and purchased goods stock levels to meet the business needs by analysing demand and ensuring that all materials and purchased goods are available in a timely fashion. This is a hands on role with sole responsibility for ensuring availability of stock for manufacture and purchased goods for sale. This position reports to the Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager. The following list summarises the Primary Responsibilities of this role: · Be aware of the requirements of the organisation’s Quality Assurance systems and take responsibility for all its obligations updating any out of date, incorrect or ineffectual processes by the correct means. To be aware of Good Manufacturing Practice and adhere to the principles. · To analyse demand for manufacturing materials, services and product to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels using MRP and other software tools. · To manage stock levels of materials to enable efficient manufacturing to take place. · To ensure that stock levels are correct given the purchasing cycle of the particular product line. · To ensure that the information held in the MRP software data bases and cost systems is up to date at all times. · Make full use of the relevant features of the MRP and related system capabilities as agreed with Senior Manufacturing Operations Manager. · Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers and relevant internal departments. · Identifying potential suppliers, visiting and auditing existing suppliers, building and maintaining good relationships with them. · Negotiating and agreeing contracts monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service and materials provided. · Negotiating best price / service from suppliers while working to ensure the quality of the product and service. · Maintain an ongoing project for the establishment of second source suppliers where possible · To ensure that Bills of Material are correctly and accurately administered to include updates arising from changes and supersession’s of components. · To ensure that Material Specifications are correct and at current revision levels. · To liaise closely with the Production Manager with regard to product availability for manufacturing and the Quality Assurance Manager with regard to anything relating to the quality of the product, e.g. supplier capability and any other colleagues as required by the role. · To prepare purchase orders in a timely manner to enable them to be reviewed and signed by a Manager before becoming urgent. · To carry out purchasing activities for the Company giving due regard to, stock levels, effective order quantities, price breaks, best prices, storage capability and supplier capability, ensuring that computer records are correct at all times. To be considered for this role you should have the following skills/experience. · Demonstrate experience of working within manufacturing · Ideally holding a recognised purchasing qualification. · Educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent. · Computer literate, with extensive use and experience of MRP, ideally with Sage and Oracle software. · Accuracy/Attention to detail · A team player. · Good communication skills · Good Analytical Skills.
