Early Medicine Consultant Bournemouth, Dorset. Applications are invited for 2 Consultant posts in General Medicine and Interface Geriatrics based at a Leading NHS Trust. The posts are to support the exciting developments in Interface Geriatrics. The work will involve working as Geriatrician of the Day in the Emergency Department & the new Frailty unit (a dedicated admissions unit for the frail elderly), working on our 50 bedded short stay unit, contributing to our developing ambulatory care clinics for older people and working alongside Primary Care with the development of locality based community MDTs. This is to improve care pathways for the frail elderly & reduce length of stay in the acute Trust. We are looking for Geriatricians who may wish to develop an area for further specialist interest while retaining their skills as a generalist. You’ll be innovative and looking to practice your skills in geriatric medicine in a variety of clinical settings including the community. There is an opportunity for successful candidates to opt to be a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Health Sciences in Bournemouth University with 1 session per week dedicated to academic work. You would be expected to play a full part in delivering high quality care including on-call and a full part in the department’s postgraduate programme, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
