Job description:
This role primarily involves the design, development and software support of Claranet’s internally written order management system. You will be joining an existing team who are dedicated to this project and who develop, maintain and support the application and its installations and varying configurations across the Claranet Group. The role involves producing both backend and frontend software. The system’s user interface will be undergoing a re-design so experience of UI/UX best practices would be beneficial. The successful applicant would be a developer who demonstrates pride and passion for their work and who is willing to learn and use relevant technologies to provide the best possible solutions to our internal customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Develop software to meeting requirements laid out in functional specifications · Test the developed software, paying attention to the variety of country specific configurations · Contribute to the design and technical direction of the system · Be aware of and employ suitable development approaches/testing to ensure software is as secure as possible; also highlighting any design/security flaws encountered during any maintenance. · Optimising code for performance and scalability Essential Position Specifications · T-SQL (Advanced) Experience of PostgreSQL a bonus. · Substantial experience developing software in a Unix/Linux environment · Substantial experience of PHP and/or Perl · Substantial experience of developing frontends with HTML and JavaScript · Solid understanding of object orientated design patterns · Experience using a variety of web service technologies, primarily XMLRPC and SOAP. · Excellent relationship building skills · Excellent analytical and numeracy skills · Ability to use independent judgement, when necessary and be assertive within parameters of the role · Self-motivation and commitment to deadlines · Ability to prioritise workload and juggle multiple tasks · Must be someone who is intellectually curious and gets gratification from building useful solutions · Must be technically savvy and able to design and build solutions that meet business goals and objectives · Must be a self-starter and keen to explore new solutions · Excellent verbal and written communications skills · Team Player · Flexibility to work with a variety of personalities and styles · Adaptable to work in a varied, high-paced exciting, fun environment Desirable : All of the following are desired, not required skills · Knowledge of PHP web frameworks, e.g. Zend2 · Experience with ColdFusion · Experience with jQuery and Bootstrap
