The main purpose of this role is envisioning the future of our in house application monitoring systems. Working with stakeholders, development teams and users to realise the development of an application monitoring engine that enables us aggregate the output of a variety of applications that monitor the health of all of our applications and infrastructure. This Aggregation Engine will enable the Ocado Operational and Development teams to monitor the health of the applications at a high level. The environment is one of Agile Development with Scrum based teams and high focused approach to constant delivery of high value, working software. This Technical Product Owner is at the heart of this Scrum development methodology, requiring a close working relationship with both internal customers and development teams. Roles & Responsibilities. You will have responsibility for:. Developing product vision and strategy, for our Application Monitoring Solutions. Building strong relationships with technical teams and business users. Developing a deep understanding of the applications currently used to monitor our applications and infrastructure with a view to development of a single application to aggregate the messages from these various applications. Understanding our operational systems monitoring requirements and communicating them to software development teams. Release and implementation management. Contributing to the technical direction of the product. Maximising business value. Product backlog management, including defining user stories and prioritisation. Balancing tactical and strategic priorities. Liaising with development teams order to communicate requirements and judge acceptance criteria for work. Participating in technical release planning. Assisting development teams in estimation. Monitoring progress and making adjustments based on strategic goals. Knowledge, Skills and Experience. ESSENTIAL. A degree from a good university. Strong A-levels including A in Maths, Physics, Further Maths or Computing. Experience of Agile software development methodologies, for example Scrum or XP. Excellent communication skills. Strong business skills. An understanding and appreciation for software development and design, solid technical skillset. DESIRABLE. A strong track record in infrastructure, e-commerce or commercial software development sectors. Strong technical skills and an analytic mind set. Previous experience in a Product Development role. Track record delivering high quality software that meets business need in a timely fashion. Experience in estimating the value of software features, and in cost-benefit analysis and constructing business cases. Experience of managing a product backlog. What we can offer you.
