Would you be interested in a 1 year fixed term contract role based in Havant in Hampshire? We are looking for a Development Engineer with Electro Mechanical proven ability, ideally use of NX. The Development Engineer is responsible for project engineering the development of products from concept design brief through to manufacture.To succeed in this role you must have strong mechanical engineering knowledge of plastic injection moulding, gears, motors, precision mechanisms, belts or pulleys etc and be ambitious and creative with a passion for innovative, consumer-focused product design. Innovation Development Engineer Location - Hampshire £30k Fixed Term contract - (Paid as an hourly rate £20phr) Purpose: To manufacture, test, evaluate and develop proof of principal models, concepts and prototypes. To record and file test results and write Test Reports to enable product development decisions. Principle Accountabilities: " Manufacture and validation testing of proof of principal models, concepts and prototypes in accordance with the concept stage gate development process. " Generation of proposed test methods in conjunction with Lead Innovation Engineer. " Writing Test Reports and conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) where required. " Manufacture & maintenance of test rigs and fixtures " Supervision of any Development Technician(s) and Apprentice(s) Main Responsibilities: " Liaising with Innovation Engineers to development prototypes and concepts in a cost efficient and timely manner and in accordance with the stage gate process using NX Computer Aided Design (CAD) package where appropriate. " Development of Proof of Principle, Proof of Concept and Prototype models. " Evaluation of new / emerging technologies. " Assist in the preparation of Patent Disclosure and assist Intellectual Property (IP) function to secure filing / grant of patent. " process improvement. " Meet project plan objectives. " Manage personal time and book resources as required. " Maintain project records and electronically file. Regular reporting of project status and attend regular project reviews. " Carrying out operation of: Rapid Prototyping equipment, milling machines, lathes, ancillary workshop equipment and hand tools. " Testing of products and prototypes as required by Innovation Engineers. " Assist in the handover of developed concept to NPD team. Attend appropriate NPD stage gate meetings. Provide support to Research and Development (R&D) function where required. " Propose production test methods and draft Product Design Specification (PDS) as directed. " Writing Technical Reports & presenting product and prototype verification test results and electronically filing. " Participation in Innovation Team discussions and ideation sessions. " Travel when required. " Analysing product and prototypes to determine failure modes " Assisting in the planning, purchase and installation of new equipment. " Keep up to date with latest technological developments, through attendance at trade shows, talking to universities etc. and attending internal and external training where appropriate. " Assist in the delivery of department and company objectives. " Ordering materials or components needed for manufacture & maintenance of test rigs and fixtures Qualifications & Experience: Essential: " Applicable ONC, HNC, HND or degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years' experience OR " 5 years experience in an applicable engineering product development role (preferably electro-mechanical) " Competent in use of proprietary 2D and 3D CAD software. " Competent in the use of applicable design technology such as rapid prototyping and specialist test equipment etc. " Good communications skills and computer literate.
