298-1737W-JC. Applications are invited for the position of a full time permanent Band 6 orthoptist. The successful candidate will join a team of 14 Orthoptists. The post offers a mixture of paediatric and adult orthoptic clinics, single handed community paediatric orthoptic clinics, joint orthoptic and optometric clinics, paediatric ophthalmology clinics, visual fields and experience in specialist orthoptic / ophthalmology clinics as required. We are a teaching hospital and the Department is an accredited centre for undergraduate Orthoptic placements. It is essential that you have an interest in clinical teaching and desirable that you have had some experience. You will be expected to participate with learning experiences for a range of other professionals. Applicants should possess a Degree or Diploma in Orthoptics, be registered with the HCPC and have post qualification clinical experience with evidence of additional knowledge and development. Experience of Octopus kinetic perimetry would be desirable. Regular evening and Saturday clinics may be held as part of the normal working week. The Orthoptic Department is based in a unit for Orthoptics, Childrens Eye Clinics and adult neuro and motility doctor clinics, working with 5 consultant ophthalmologists. The Leeds Ophthalmology Centre has 18 other consultant ophthalmologists.
