Java Developer - Central London (contract). My client are looking for a skilled Java Developer to join a team who are responsible for delivering world class bespoke printed products. Working as a Java Developer within the PrintOps team, you will have exposure to and influence on the development of new products as well as the whole post-order customer service experience and manufacturing process. The successful Java Developer will work closely with the lead developer and the rest of the team to help implement our clients long-term architectural goals while simultaneously delivering useful features that meet our stakeholders needs. Java Developers Responsibilities. Developing features and experience enhancements to delight our customers and meet their needs. Designing and implementing APIs for internal and external use. Taking ownership of user stories and working with Product, Experience Design and QA through to release. Being a centre of expertise with regard to server-side technology. Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider Tech team. Contributing project suggestions, process suggestions (or anything else for that matter) to help improve the overall quality of the MOO codebase. Helping to identify and eliminate technical debt (with the established prioritisation and scheduling process). Showing a willingness to develop expertise in domain & subject areas outside of your normal purview. Actively seeking to improve process, tooling and architecture. About the Java Developer. Strong commercial Java development experience. 5+ years of experience designing, developing and maintaining large scale web applications. An expert in OO design with in depth knowledge of design patterns. Experienced in TDD. Expert level in at least one of: PHP, Python, Perl, C++. In depth experience of: MySQL, XML, HTTP. Development for UNIX and Linux platforms. An out and out passion for technology, code elegance, and web standards. Nice to have. Active involvement in an open source project. Experience with Spring 4 and JPA with Hibernate. Automated testing and continuous deployment. Experience of a multi-language and multi-locale platform. A good understanding of agile software development practices, preferably hands on experience of SCRUM.
