CLINICAL FELLOW SPECIALTY DOCTOR LEVELIN OBSTETRIC ANAESTHESIASUBSTANTIVE CONTRACTAn exciting opportunity has arisen for driven and forward thinking Anaesthetists who have a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia to come and join us in one of our newly created roles. Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Specialty Doctor level in Obstetric Anaesthesia at Queens Hospital starting as soon as possible for a permanent contract, subject to satisfactory appraisal following one year’s service. The Department of Anaesthesia at Queen’s Hospital and King George Hospital provides anaesthetic ITU, HDU and pain services for the local population. This takes the form of operating sessions, intensive care ward rounds, pain ward rounds, day care sessions for pain and outpatient clinics for pain and pre-assessment.There are a total of 27 theatres between the 2 sites, including day surgery and maternity theatres.Although this is not a training post, our units are recognised by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The clinical fellows will share a newly developed rota and as will participate in the same training program and appraisal schemes as our Specialty Doctors. There is a full in house education and training programme and support for study leave will be given. The posts provide the opportunity to participate in ongoing research.The clinical fellows work on a full shift EWTD compliant rota that is well supported by dedicated team of Consultants. Previous experience in obstetric anaesthesia is essential. Most clinical responsibilities will be within the Labour Ward at Queens Hospital but the post holder will partake in some flexible general anaesthesia sessions to maintain their skills. The post will require a degree of flexibility to include on-call commitments and provides enough flexibility to allow the holder exposure to all aspects of Obstetric anaesthesiaApplications from candidates who require a permit to work in the UK will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
