About the role The Knowledge Mobilisation function ensures that ESRC is able to: • strategically develop its growing portfolio of evidence centres and ensure that any further investment in knowledge mobilisation is well-grounded in evidence of what is effective and meets needs of users • support its community to respond to new funding opportunities • work across ESRC’s existing investment portfolio to ensure that its achievements and outputs are visible • contribute fully to achieving UKRI’s strategy and objectives, particularly in cross cutting areas where there is a strong need for the social sciences. You will be expected to achieve high quality outcomes in the following areas: • devising, implementing and monitoring a plan that can deliver increased capability for ESRC to use and mobilise evidence to better meet its and UKRI’s strategic objectives • develop and deliver a long-term strategy for ESRC’s investment portfolio of evidence centres such as ‘What Works’ • in partnership with the Heads of Communications and Strategy, devising and implementing an approach to build more strategic relationships with government departments, research organisations, learned societies, academies and other funders of social science • framing ESRC’s unique role, ambition and contribution to the broader UKRI agenda; ensuring that social science is well-represented and that the community is able to respond with high quality social science propositions. About you You must have well-developed communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues. You will have the ability to write a range of documents that draw evidence to set out compelling arguments suitable for a range of internal and external audiences. You should have experience of a range of ways that evidence and knowledge can be mobilised for public good and be at ease with working in a politically sensitive public sector environment, and experience of providing professional advice to senior staff. You must have outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills and the capacity to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders on diverse issues.
