SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN OPHTHALMOLOGY Base:YORK HOSPITAL Whole Time or Job Share – 10 Programmed Activities Salary: £39,060- £72,840 (per annum, dependent on previous experience) Permanent An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our dedicated highly motivated Ophthalmology team. As an integral member of this team you will support the Consultants in providing a comprehensive service in Ophthalmology to the population of York and the surrounding areas. York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has an ambitious programme of service modernisation and a reputation for providing high quality services. In line with our outlook, we are now inviting applications for this post, in the Ophthalmology team at York Hospital. The post holder will join a team consisting of 19 consultants in the ophthalmology service. Applicants must have 4 years postgraduate training with at least three years experience in Ophthalmology at the grade of SHO/equivalent or higher grade. The post is not a recognised training post, but would be ideal for those wishing to gain further experience in the specialty as the training, supervision and clinical experience will be similar to that of the training grade doctors and tailored to the post holder’s previous level of experience. Candidates must have full GMC Registration, a familiarity with issues of service organisation and development would be particularly advantageous. MRCOphth is desirable. Please note that as of July 2012, Scarborough Hospital has become part of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Candidates must be aware of the organisation's expectation for them to be prepared to work across York, Scarborough and Bridlington Hospital sites where it is a requirement of their service.
