Job Description Social Work Resources Location: Social Work Area Office, Brandon Gate, 1 Leechlee Road, Hamilton Hours: 35 hours per week Permanent Child and Family Services are looking to recruit motivated and committed Family Support Workers to work with Children and Families in the community who are receiving a social work service. Family Support Workers will be working under the support and guidance of Social Workers and Team Leaders in the local offices to an agreed Child’s Plan. The post will entail working in partnership with different agencies i.e. education, health etc. to ensure the best outcomes for children and families. Assessment, risk management, intervention and review will be an integral part of the post as will the ability to prioritise work, ensure up to date recording and work in accordance with South Lanarkshire Council’s policies and procedures. Requirements As part of our approach to good practice and safer recruitment we carry out a number of pre-employment checks for example, Identity, Asylum and Immigration and employment history etc. Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad. This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 2003. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children . Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
