Our client are a well known organisation based in Cambridge, and they are currently recruiting a Project Manager for their housing development division, initially for 6 months. Our client own a large number of sites across Cambridgeshire which have potential for housing development. They have planning to develop these sites and to build and retain a substantial private rented portfolio. This position will suit a general practice or valuation chartered surveyor, with experience of housing development. The client are looking to transfer sites to a wholly-owned Special Purpose Vehicle to manage development and the private rental scheme. They have some in house capability but sub contract specialist advice such as planning and viability consultancy, quantity surveying and in time construction project management. The Role. Based in Cambridge and working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of chartered surveyors you will support in house and other agency staff to implement development projects as their scale and complexity increases. Self-development is costly and it is important that contractors and consultants are managed well to ensure efficiency, value for money and success. The work will include rapid progression towards the establishment of the SPV, definition of process and governance including procurement frameworks, the identification and procurement of external consultants to provide the delivery of design, planning and construction and preparing the project for implementation when outline planning consent has been granted. The ideal candidate. The Support Project Manager will have a strong background in property development, preferably in the housing sector, and in the implementation of development projects for private sector housing projects. You will also have excellent communication and influencing skills, and be comfortable at reporting at all levels within a major public organisation. A high level of project management skills and commercial know how are required. The standard hours of work will be 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
