Job Description Children and Families Principal Teacher - Secondary Kaimes School Salary: £38,991 Hours: 35 Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education Kaimes is a non-denominational special school providing education for primary and secondary age learners with complex long-term additional support needs where the presumption of mainstream cannot be met. Needs of learners are primarily associated with social and pragmatic communication needs associated with Autistic Spectrum Condition. The school is situated in the South of Edinburgh. The school is divided into two buildings: K1 for the Primary department/transition classes and the gym hall; K2 for our Secondary classes. K2 has recently been refurbished and houses our specialist classrooms, ‘The forum’, an open multipurpose space and the dining hall. We also have sensory room, meeting room, and visiting therapists’ rooms. The management team consists of the Headteacher, two Depute Headteachers, Business Manager, and two Principal Teachers. There are a further 22 teachers in addition to a number of support staff, including office staff, Nursery Nurses, and Pupil Support Assistants, working throughout the school to support both the learners and their families. The staffing model reflects the degree of individual care and attention that our young people require to help meet their needs. The school has a multi-agency approach to working with children and young people and includes Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, School Doctor and Nurse. Interviews will be held in week beginning 19th September This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
