We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer - Body Systems to work for a major Automotive organisation based in Coventry, West Midlands. Job Title: Principal Engineer - Body Systems. Experience: Automotive project delivery. Location: Coventry, West Midlands. Salary: £ Dependent on experience. The Role:. *Our client is recruiting for a Principal Engineer to lead the Body Exterior team. *The role will be to coordinate and lead the successful delivery of Body Exterior content. Key Responsibilities:. *Lead the Body Exterior content within the company and its suppliers. *Development of Technical Specifications and Targets (system level cascaded to component). *Coordination of engineering activities carried out by the suppliers/partners - Design/Development, Test/Validation, Manufacture. *Coordination of all cross functional inputs/outputs for Styling, Package, Vehicle Integration, CAE, Test, Manufacturing, Service, Quality and Safety. *Interface for all other Systems groups (i.e. Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Body Structure, Closures, Interior Trim, Seating & Restraints). *Ensure that agreed deliverables are completed meeting cost, timing, quality, specifications and targets. *Ensuring the accuracy of the BOM (cost/weight tracking). *Development of FMEAs. *Development/management of DVP&R schedule. *Management of the Coventry based Body & Trim Design staff. *Provide reports to management - technical, concerns, status. *Oversee release status meetings (PMST meetings at D&D suppliers). *Attend design reviews and support package and vehicle integration meetings as required. *Coordination of activities associated with the carry-over and carry over modified parts. *Coordination of suppliers to meet cost, time, quality targets for tooling and parts (prototype and production). Skills and Experience:. *Ideally have a degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline. *Proven ability within an automotive engineering background, a number of years of experience of successfully delivering projects in an OEM or Tier 1 capacity having led teams of engineers. *A high standard of automotive technical knowledge of Body & Interior systems. *Ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time. *Ability to manage a team, good interpersonal and communication skills. *Commercial awareness for preparation of projects and proposal development. *Drive and commitment to deliver technically challenging projects. *Able to be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments. *Enovia/Catia trained an advantage.
