This is a special school for students with Social, Emotional and Attachment difficulties, particularly challenging behaviour, and/or additional complex needs. They provide personalised education and support to students who for a variety of reasons are not accessing mainstream education. The provision believes in providing opportunities for students to become independent and well-rounded individuals ready to embrace all that life has to offer, removing the barriers to learning that have hindered their progress up to now. This is a SEBD provision for those aged 5 – 19 so they welcome applicants that want to work with those at both a primary and secondary level. A Behaviour Mentor works on a full time basis supporting student’s behaviour and learning inside and outside of the class, this is primarily a class based position however it’s very likely you will end up doing 1:1 withdrawal sessions at some stage in order to maintain the progress of student’s behaviour and learning. As a Behaviour Mentor these inspirational schools can offer the successful Behaviour Mentor fantastic pre PGCE experience, the opportunity to be a role model to those in need as well as outstanding CPD programs on offer. Often these are organisations (PRUs, SEBD Schools or Alternative Provisions) that provide a personalised education and support to students who for a variety of reasons (mostly behavioural) are not accessing mainstream education.
