Responsibilities Include To assess patients' physical, mental and/or social challenges and to devise treatment programmes to increase their ability to tackle their difficulties independently. To assess and discuss everyday activities that are important to the patient such as washing, dressing, mobility indoors and outdoors, domestic chores, bathing, driving, preparing and eating meals, or participating in work, school or leisure activities. To review treatment periodically, evaluate progress and modify the treatment as appropriate. To ensure elderly people are cared for appropriately, either in a care home or by a family member in their own home, giving consideration to everyday activities such as washing, preparing and eating meals, shopping and mobility Give advice on how a home or work place environment could be adapted (e.g. wheelchair ramps, a stair lift or grab rails for safety) in order to afford a greater independence and safety. Coach people with learning difficulties or poor social skills, e.g. in handling money and social interaction. Liaising with a wide variety of other professionals, such as doctors, physiotherapists, social workers, voluntary workers and equipment suppliers, as well as patients' families, carers and employers. Organising support and rehabilitation groups for carers and clients Managing your own caseload and prioritising needs, completing administrative tasks such as patient and budgetary records To ensure compliance with the Health and Social care Act regulations 2010 by adhering to the Care Quality Commission standards at all times. To ensure a valid and up to date NMC Registration, HCPC Registration or any other required Professional Registration is held and maintained at all times. Undertaking such other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the grade. Qualifications:Diploma or a degree in Occupational Therapy.Registered with the Health Professions Council. Knowledge and Experience: Experience in working within a busy environmentExperience in working within an OT (Orthopaedic) role / environment Experience in working within an environment involving strong emotions Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office Personal Skills & Qualities: Patience and strong interpersonal skills to inspire trust and respect in their clientsMust be able to adapt to a variety of settings Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills. Ability to act professionally, responsibly and accountably. Motivated, hard working and able to act autonomously. Demonstrate and maintain standards of professional competency in line with code of conduct.
