The role is fast paced, varied and stimulating, we aim to provide healthcare to offenders that is equivalent to those in the community. Exciting opportunities have arisen for experienced Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurses to work within our Integrated Mental Health Team at HMP Leicester. The role of the Mental Health Nurse is to work within a stepped care pathway, conducting assessments, responding to crisis situations, conducting brief therapeutic interventions and /or case management for prisoners with a wide range of mental health issues, including common mental health problems, Psychotic disorders, personality disorder and self harm behaviours. You would also be participating in multi-disciplinary reviews, risk assessment. This is a unique opportunity to develop wide ranging knowledge and experience, and develop professional autonomy. You would be expected to engage in individual and group supervision and reflective practice. The post is based at HMP Leicester, The trust provides healthcare in a number of prisons across the East Midlands and there will be opportunities for cross site working and peer support. Both full time and part time position are available, working across a 7 day week and informal visits are welcome by appointment. We would also welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and are able to offer a preceptorship package to the right candidate. You must be a Registered Mental Health Nurse or a Registered Learning Disability Nurse with proven post registration experience in Primary and/or Secondary Mental Health care and have knowledge of CPA and Clinical Risk assessment.
