Salary: £28,050 Grade: D Contract Type: Open-Ended Hours: Full Time Closing Date: 4th December 2018 About UK SBS Procurement: From staplers to ships, UK SBS’s Procurement Team meets clients’ incredibly diverse sourcing requirements. We have been widely recognised for our success in bringing together the procurement requirements of the UKRI and The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and its Arm Length Bodies. We are currently looking for talented procurement professionals to join our Major Projects procurement team. The Major Projects procurement team covers some of the most complex and diverse requirements within the public sector, managing strategically important, complex multi-million projects on behalf of the customers across different categories. For example, we have sourced a new £200m contract which will drive economic growth by supporting small to medium sized enterprises and have secured a contract in record time to build a new vessel for oceanographic research. Key responsibilities: • procurement support to the STFC and other partner organisations and procurement projects and activity • provision of commercial advice and support, promoting good purchasing practice • running of procurement projects including all aspects of sourcing activity including requirement gathering, tendering, evaluation, advice, and other support as required • ensuring all procurement processes comply with EU procurement law and UK SBS policy and process • signposting of requirements where these are dealt with by the wider team • assisting in the resolution of problems and issues as they arise • supporting Senior Procurement Specialist in the relationship management between the laboratory and UK SBS •responsible for ensuring that procurement activity is run within agreed SLAs and resolving service requests as they are assigned. Shortlisting and Interview Criteria: Essential: • previous Commercial and Procurement experience • proven stakeholder and management skills • proven ability to communicate verbally and written with a wide range of internal and external customers • commercial mind set and proactive, hardworking approach • good analytical skills • good team-working skills • self-motivated • ability to perform under pressure • high level of attention to detail • ability to problem solve • excellent organisational skills. Desirable: •MCIPS qualification (or working towards) • degree or equivalent experience • knowledge and understanding of the principles of best practice procurement process • public sector experience and knowledge of OJEU processes •experience of working in a highly regulated environment.
