Job description:
Java developer with 2 - 4 years experience is sought by the exchange trading team at this major financial institution. They are looking for solid java developer with experience in the financial markets and excellent OO programming and design fundamentals as they begin the new year with a complete overhaul of their system architecture as they move to an Event Driven Architecture. The exchange this team develops is an ultra high volume, low latency exchange using core Java versions 7 and 8, distributed computing methods, and concurrently handles 100,000s of transactions a second across 10s of thousands of different products. This complete overhaul of the exchange will involve decoupling the old architecture and build new components for a variety of systems such as price streaming, execution, and transaction analytics. This Java role will be to join a small team where they need someone who is a self-starter who they can give responsibility to from day 1, however they are looking for someone who has all the right foundational experiences and computer science knowledge who they train and mentor. This role is working very closely with a team highly experienced team of Java programmers who will be there to guide and mentor the successful candidate as they get to grips with the high volume, low latency nature of what they do. This Java developer will be involved in Java memory management (GC tuning), messaging technologies, understanding TCP/IP protocols and multithreading within a Test Driven Development agile methodology on a Linux platform. This particular team are also currently using Hbase.
