Main responsibilities As a Lead Support Worker you will be required to supervise staff as appropriate, ensuring that shifts are conducted according to the needs of the service users. •You will be required to participate in the on call rota. •You will also be required to coach existing staff and induct new staff to the service. •Your main role as a Lead Support Worker will be to focus on the needs of the service users at this service, whether it is helping them to bath, do their shopping or taking them on holiday. •You will work shifts and will be required to work on weekends and public holidays. You may also be asked to do sleep-ins, depending on the service. We operate homes 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. •You may be required to give medication and to make sure that a service user’s medical requirements are taken care of. •The safety of service users will be your responsibility at all times. •Our service users have varied interests and it will be your job to support them in these and to help them develop their talents. It is crucial to allow them choice and to keep in mind that each person needs a personalised approach. •You will be required to encourage and support service users to keep in touch with family and friends and to accompany them to social occasions. •Record keeping is an important part of the role. You will be required to write daily reports on activities, as well as devising and updating care plans and conducting risk assessments. •Part of your job will involve cleaning the house, with or without the aid of the service users. You may also be required to cook and shop for the service user. •We provide all our Support Workers with specialist training which you will be required to attend. You will also be required to complete e-learning modules relevant to your job. Ideal candidate •Experience of working in care is essential, as is an NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care. •GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English is also required. •Basic computer knowledge of Word, Excel, email and internet is required. •An understanding of HS requirements would be beneficial. •Experience of delegating tasks and leading teams would also be of use.
