The College wishes to recruit an Graduate Research Assistant/ Postdoctoral Research Associate in Health Economic Modelling to support the work of the . This NIHR-funded post is available immediately and is funded for four years initially. There is a possibility that the contract could be extended thereafter, subject to funding. The successful applicant will work full-time or part-time as a health economic modeller in a multidisciplinary team on health technology assessments, primarily for the . PenTAG also works for other national bodies such as the National Institute for Health Research and the National Screening Committee. The post will include: developing and critiquing cost-effectiveness models (often of pharmaceuticals, sometimes of tests and medical devices); writing reports for national policy makers; collaborating with colleagues, clinicians and national experts; and reviewing published literature. The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies. The successful applicant will add to an existing team of 13 researchers, with five health economics/modellers. PenTAG has a reputation for producing high quality, methodologically robust evidence for policy makers. Our work is at the heart of the internationally admired NICE process, and has a major impact on the use of health technologies in the UK and internationally. At Graduate Research Assistant level applicants will possess a good undergraduate degree (1st or 2:1) in a relevant numerate subject (e.g., mathematics, statistics, economics, operational research, physics, engineering) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study.  At Postdoctoral Research Associate level candidates will have a PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/ experience in a relevant field. Candidates will be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes to meet deadlines. Experience in Excel, R, Stata, Simul8 and/or WinBUGS will be considered favourably. There is excellent training available.Additionally at Postdoctoral Research Fellow level the successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.   Applications close on the 14/09/16.
