Role Description Reporting to the Shift Team Leader, the role requires that Operators work in the production area and must work as a team within the shift and work flexibly to accomplish the duties required to complete all tasks. Enamelling machines The Enamelling machines are high temperature ovens (typically 680oC), applying a liquid polymer to a copper or aluminium conductor. The end product is reeled onto spools on rotating machinery and on completion, are transferred to despatch pallets using the lifting equipment provided. Use and operate the equipment in accordance with Company Health and Safety procedures A degree of computer literacy is required to operate the control systems for the oven. The process involves the (limited) handling and use of Chemicals. Fork lift Truck A current valid Forklift Truck license for Counter Balance trucks of 2500Kgs, 7500 Kgs. Is not essential but very desirable Personal Qualities Good time keeping and attendance is essential Dexterity and good hand eye coordination = the wire is passed through dies that require the operator to perform a threading function. Generally fit and healthy and capable of performing manual handling tasks to weight defined in Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. Generally pleasant and polite demeanour Honesty is essential = copper is a high value product and F D Sims has a policy of prosecuting employees who remove materials from site. Must not be afraid of working at heights General terms Working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern Night time and week-end working Start work at 6:00am finish at 6:00pm - average of 42 Hours per Week. 50 minutes break per day paid if remain on site Please be aware that we receive a large amount of applications.
