Driving Standards Manager Location: Tottenham, North London Salary: £32,000 to £36,000 DoE Overview: The Driving Standards Manager will deliver the highest driver & driving standards within the company alongside operational performance in terms of health, safety and compliance of the Transport Department. Lead the team of drivers to ensure best practice and procedures are adhered to and the highest duty of care standards are maintained. Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage the driving performance of these drivers including their appraisal, training & continual development. - Launch the Driver School of Excellence programme which will eventually be rolled out as a training school to other companies. - Works with Managers to identify the training requirements tailored to the business needs and individual PDPs; determines the priorities and plans a 12 month rolling cycle to create a companywide training calendar. - Contributes to the design, development and production of training materials, documents and manuals to ensure consistency and quality of content and delivery to meet the specific needs of the school of excellence programme. - Manage the achievement of standards as per the accreditations including FORS and CLOCS. - Oversee the auditing process to ensure safety and performance standards are met; anticipating problems and finding solutions and recommending and implementing performance enhancing processes. - Responsibility to manage the Fleet Compliance team. - Compliance Assurance will be focussed primarily in the fields of VOSA, DVSA O Licences, Fleet Operations and Technical Operations. - Address performance issues in relation to non-compliance. - Implement driving standards policy which will need to account for; driver assessments, training/development, welfare including alcohol & drugs testing, recruitment, handbook updates and toolbox talk campaigns. Skills and Qualifications: - Strong ability to plan strategically and translate strategy into operational roadmaps, deploying resources efficiently while pushing for results. - Good ability to take complex decisions and be accountable, demonstrating managerial courage and taking responsibility while managing risk. - Ability to drive innovation, manage change and deal with ambiguity, creating effective change management processes. - Able to work under pressure and deal with deadlines with high energy and resilience. - Previous employment within a large Fleet environment or VOSA / DVSA, an Armed Forces / Police Vehicle Fleet environment would be beneficial. - HGV vehicle maintenance. - Knowledge of site emergency and site safety procedures. - Environmental awareness. - Understanding of the tachograph operation. - Knowledge of different types of waste including contaminants and hazards associated with vehicles/plant/waste. - Extensive compliance experience in a similar Fleet, transport, services, construction or other high risk industry.
