Job Title: Commercial Director Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 Salary: circa £45,000 per annum dependent on skills and experience Closing Date: Tuesday 29 March 2016 (midday) Interview Date : Wednesday 13 April 2016 Position : This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations. Working hours are 9.00am - 5.30pm, with a half hour unpaid lunch break. Our Client, a leading independent day and boarding school is seeking to appoint a Commercial Director to manage and develop the commercial activities across the Foundation. The successful candidate will be commercially savvy with good business development, negotiation and sales experience. Ideally they will have operational experience in leisure, sports and cultural industries, including the management of gyms and health and fitness facilities. They will also have a successful track record of delivering financial budgets and operational KPIs as well be able to persuade and influence a large and varied group of stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial development and management of the Foundations: Sport facilities including a athletics track, dedicated throws arena, new full size 3G pitch, 2 full size ATPs, five a-side football pitches Sports Centre including 25 metre, 8 lane swimming pool, sports hall, fitness suite, studio, squash courts and climbing wall A 450 seat modern theatre (the largest in Oxfordshire outside Oxford) All courses, academies and holiday camps including sports, arts and educational activities School café (ancillary to the main dining hall and catering facilities) Miscellaneous lettings The Foundation has recently concluded an in-depth review of its existing commercial operations. The creation of this role is part of the conclusions of the review and the role is expected to help deliver a significant increase in the turnover (around £600k currently) and profitability of the Foundations commercial activities. The Commercial Director will report to the Director of Finance & Operations (DFO) who is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The main areas of responsibility are: Strategy and Leadership Operational management Business development and financial delivery Stakeholder management Strategy and Leadership: Developing the Foundations commercial strategy and annual business plan; Leading and motivating the commercial team to deliver its financial and operational plans; Operational Management: Ensuring the facilities at the Sports Centre are run effectively and are well maintained, clean and secure; Delivering excellent and professional service levels to regularly reported, pre-agreed KPIs; Ensuring the successful running of courses, academies and holiday camps either internally or with selected third parties; Working with the Foundations catering provider to ensure that all catering and hospitality provided commercially is of a high standard and priced appropriately; Business Development and Financial Delivery: Marketing of the Foundations sports and cultural facilities including responsibility for an effective online presence; The successful launch and operation of a gym / health and fitness suite at the Park (assuming relevant approvals are obtained); Introducing new courses, academies and holiday camps across all the Foundations sites; and Stakeholder Management: managing relationships with existing clubs and groups that use the Foundations facilities; development of community partnerships from a commercial perspective, including local schools and residents associations; Person Specification: Essential: Commercially savvy with good business development, negotiation and sales experience Leisure, sports and cultural industry operational experience, including management of gyms and health and fitness facilities Strong financial capabilities including P&L accountability Successful track record of delivering financial budgets and operational KPIs Marketing exp
