DIVISION OF PATHOLOGY JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL DEPARTMENT OF MICROBILOOGY: VIROLOGY Clinical Scientist in Molecular/Virology 37½ hours per week Will include weekend working after successful training Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Scientist in Molecular/Virology. The division is looking for a keen dynamic individual who has experience in molecular diagnostics and preferably clinical virology. The role will require the post holder to take an active part in the development and expansion of the molecular section within pathology. The pathology molecular diagnostic service is a growing service and the post holder will be required to take an active role in this development. The division is looking for a dynamic, forward thinking, experienced healthcare professional to identify and develop innovative changes in the service. We are looking for an individual who can interact effectively with senior management in Pathology and across the trust. Applicant must have a proven record of working independently and as effective team member. This is a challenging post for an enthusiastic, well-motivated, forward thinking individual. The Microbiology Laboratory at the James Cook University Hospital JCUH was commissioned in 2002. The laboratory provides a wide range of investigations to support the clinical activity within a busy Trust and surrounding GP population. The laboratory processes approximately 400,000 specimens per year, 330,000 Bacteriology; 97,000 Virology. The Microbiology Laboratory at Friarage was centralised at the James Cook site in October 2012. Recently rated as one of the best in the country for patient safety and one of the top 40 hospitals by CHKS for the thirteenth year running, the Trust is one of the largest Foundation Trusts in England.
