Catering Stores Assistant / Cleaner (Cleaning Operative) BLUC33202. Bury. Salary 16,759 - 17,541 per annum, pro rata. 34.5 hours per week, Term Time Only + 1 week during College holidays. Our client is a Further Education College offering a wide range of courses to over 5000 full time students and over 5650 part time students each year. They currently work with over 50 high school partners, welcoming students from Bury and the surrounding areas. Joining them as a Catering Stores Assistant, you will assist in the kitchen /stores area in a way which ensures clean and hygienic conditions to ensure that Health and Safety food requirements are adhered to at all times. Cleaning all kitchen equipment, tables and sinks and collecting tea towels and dishcloths for washing, replacing them with clean supplies, you will record and check all food deliveries for quality, quantity and temperature against the stores orders. Operating the automatic dishwasher when necessary, you will prepare food trolleys from store orders on a daily basis and deal with any spontaneous requests from students / lecturers, maintaining flexibility within the college technical support team. Maintaining safe working practices and undertaking any specific duties allocated to you under the College Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, you will promote and safeguard the welfare of all learners you come into contact with. With a minimum Level 1 qualification in both English and Maths, you will hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or a willingness to work towards this) and ideally a Level 2 qualification in Hospitality or Catering, however this is not essential. With strong cleaning experience gained ideally within a large kitchen environment, you will be familiar with cleaning chemicals and desirably have experience of making up food trolleys and of storing foodstuff in fridges and freezers at the correct temperature. Good communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Closing date for applications: Monday 8th February 2016.
