Job description:
The role: Our Surrey based client is currently seeking a Category Manager to join their construction procurement team on a permanent basis. This growing organisation is looking to streamline their innovative procurement function in order to successfully deliver their cost-led construction projects. They are looking for a procurement professional with a construction background to head the Supplier Relationship Management of existing suppliers, whilst actively engaging and developing local construction markets. Key Responsibilities: * Generating and developing new relationships with potential contractors and suppliers in order to develop local construction markets and networks; * Work with the SRM team to successfully maintain existing supplier relationships; * Liaise with key stakeholders including Contractors, Consultants and Project Managers throughout Surrey. Key Requirements: * Demonstrable construction sector experience is essential; * A good understanding of SRM strategies is essential; * CIPS qualifications useful or willingness to study to CIPS as the client is willing to support; * Competent user of Microsoft Office package; * Excellent communication skills with demonstrable experience of negotiating with contractors.
