We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 nurses to join our Paediatric Department at Whipps Cross University Hospital, Leytonstone. About us Acorn Ward is a 21 bedded busy multi-specialty ward caring for children and young people from birth to 16 years. You will gain experience caring for children with a wide range of conditions including; medical, surgical, trauma related injuries, ENT, urology and oncology. We also care for children of high acuity and dependency so you will have the opportunity to be able to develop these skills. In addition to the in-patient facilities Whipps Cross has both a Medical and Surgical Day Unit and a dedicated Childrens Emergency Department which sees approximately 80 children per day. Rotational posts are available. Pre-registration student nurses have placements at Whipps Cross and we would like to equip all our staff with the right skills to be able to offer mentorship and sign off mentorship responsibilities by supporting the attainment of an academic qualification. We take Education and Training very seriously and offer staff local training as well as formal educational opportunities through our Academic partners. The newly appointed Associate Director of Nursing for Children here at Whipps Cross strives to use the views of staff working in our service to improve our current and future service provision.
