Assistant Practice Manager Axminster £25,000 - £30,000 Our client who is a leading law firm in East Devon and South Somerset are looking for an Assistant Practice Manager to work mainly from their Axminster office. The role will require you to visit all offices, but expenses will be covered. You role will be to provide support to the Practice Manager to allow the firm to run smoothly and efficiently. Whilst you will be given full support, you must be someone that is able to take the initiative and not afraid to take responsibility. What will the role as Assistant Practice Manager involve? There are 5 main areas to your role, and as such you will be someone that is able to cope with changing priorities and take responsibility for tasks: HR Recruitment – placing adverts, arranging interviews Preparing of contracts/ offer letters/ reference checks New starters – setting up on system Carrying out induction Administering of sickness/ holiday Maintaining personnel files Organising of appraisals IT Managing IT – hardware and software Ensuring IT system and software is operational and meeting the needs of the firm Management of office systems Events Arranging events – internal and external Attending exhibitions (when required) Liaising with fee earners, local press – including negotiation and proof reading Compliance Preparing and documenting FE monthly visits Maintaining and reviewing registers Ensuring company compliance with Lexcel and CQS Dealing with File Closures – monitoring and reporting Customer questionnaire – recording, monitoring and analysis Monitoring of client file – offering advice and dealing with any breaches that may occur Managing accreditation schemes Health and Safety Managing all offices from a facilities/ maintenance perspective H&S Officer and fire warden and/ or first aider Liaising with contractors/ suppliers to revolve maintenance issues Ensuring all offices are H&S compliant. What type of person are we looking for as an Assistant Practice Manager? A real people person Great communicator Uses their initiative and takes responsibility Able to make decisions. What experience/ knowledge is required? Previous experience of working within a professional services environment Experience within a senior commercial role Human resources experience Project experience Strong IT understanding and ability to work closely with IT provider to implement changes Organising events Practice Management (desirable) Knowledge of Lexcel and CQS (desirable) Previous experience of working in a legal environment (desirable) Own car is essential. The salary for the is role is £25,000 - £30,000 DOE. In addition, you will receive 28 days holiday, plus bank holidays and a great working environment with the opportunity to grow and expand/ develop your skills.
