Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor (Construction, Glazing) BLUA34706. London and Surrounding Areas. Salary £25,000 - £37,000 dependant on skills/experience. Our client is a world leader in the design, production and distribution of construction materials. They are the UK's leading provider of glass and glazing solutions to the architectural, construction, building maintenance, door and window and insurance repair sectors. With a British heritage stretching back 150 years, their unique capabilities span the entire glass and glazing supply chain. They currently have an opportunity available for an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join them to protect the Company against legal and contractual risks with regards to contract terms, variations and action failures by client during course of contract. Responsible for preparing periodic applications for payment, pricing variations and general day to day commercial management of a given project(s). You should also be able to, with the help of the Senior QS, assist in dispute resolution including assisting in preparing claims, evaluate loss & expense, prepare claims for extensions of time and cause and effect documents. You must calculate Subcontract payments and bought out packages including tender, interim payments and agreement of final accounts; maintaining good, professional working relationships with clients and subcontractors at all times. Essentially, you will study each project in depth with a view to negotiating risky contract clauses with customers, communicate identified risks to the project team prior to commencement and prepare and issue enquiries to sub-contractors. With strong commercial focus and the ability to run a project from inception to final account and retention recovery (seeking input from the Senior QS when necessary), you must develop good working relationships with customers, demonstrate excellent communication skills and be motivated, resilient and determined to 'get things right'. Practical and able to demonstrate rigor and excellent attention to detail and process skills, you should be highly-detail conscious with good analytical skills and strong influencing and persuading skills; a HNC / Degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred but not essential.
