The role This role is based at St Catherine’s Marydale secure unit and Marian house open unit Reporting to the Registered Managers, the main purpose of this role is to; support / assess / candidates to enable them to achieve appropriate qualifications.. The successful applicants duties will be: - • Provide work-based assessment to candidates undertaking diplomas and accredited units in level 3 children and young People’s awards/ Level3 Residential Childcare • Provide support and advice to candidates to enable them to achieve the award within a defined timescale. • Monitor and record the progress of candidates and assessors in order for the centre to meet awarding body’s requirements • Arrange for candidate induction as required • Draw up plans for completion of awards/ units • Liaise re shift duties to enable Assessor and candidates to work together for live observations • Meet with candidates to give feedback on live observations, assess product evidence witness statements, knowledge evidence etc., and to review plans • Meet with Internal Quality Assurance personnel when required, to have signed off units verified • Ensuring candidate portfolios/assessment records are kept up to date, in good order and in secure locations for collection by Assessment centre personnel and for IQA visits to sites • Ensuring information on paperwork, awards, good practise, updates to Assessor Handbooks are cascaded down to candidates for whom the Assessor has responsibility • Report verbally and or in writing to the Quality Assurance Coordinator and managers re any areas of concern when candidates are not actively progressing in their award, • Contribute to the development of the Assessment Centre including support and advice to assessors and expert witnesses in order to maintain quality standards • Liaise with city and Guilds quality assurance Personnel for Assessment Centre when directed by QAC • Attend Assessment Centre Standardisation/support meetings with other Assessors, Internal Verifiers and Assessment Board, when required The person we are looking for… In order to be considered for the role it is ESSENTIAL that applicants demonstrate the following: - • D32/D33, A1, Level 3 award in assessing Competence in the workplace • Obtained whilst assessing in a child care setting • Level 3 Qualification or Higher obtained whilst working with Children and Young People • Experience of Working within a Child Care Residential or Social Work setting. • Knowledge of QCF Standards Level 3 applicable to the child care Residential Sector • Full understanding and Application of QCF processes and procedure • Assessment skills • IT literate in the use of MS office applications • Ability to meet deadlines • To be flexible, organised, and able to manage own Workload • To be able to work under pressure • To be able to keep records (including electronic records) • To be able to prepare written reports and input into databases • To be able to assess written work as well as practise • Excellent Interpersonal skills • To be able to work as a member of a team • Willingness to work outside of normal office hours on residential sites to fit in with shift systems within these sites.
